How does the consultation process work?

The initial consultation will consist of a comprehensive evaluation which may include a physical examination. The doctor will review your medical history, assess your symptoms and concerns in detail and prescribe the necessary tests.

Once your test results are received, a follow up appointment will be scheduled to review the results and discuss evidence-based options to provide a personalized treatment plan.

Where do I get blood work done?

Blood work are not done at our clinic. You may choose to go to a private lab or use the public system.

Who will be conducting the consultation?

All appointments are with Dr. Ghazigian.

How many follow up appointments are required?

Follow up appointments will be scheduled every 3-6 months based on individual needs until symptoms are properly managed.

What is menopausal hormone therapy (MHT)?

Menopausal hormone therapy is the replacement of the female sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone and/or testosterone) to alleviate symptoms common during perimenopause and menopause. The doses used in MHT are much lower than what is used in oral contraceptive pills.

What type of hormones do you prescribe?

We prescribe forms of hormone replacement that are similar to those made naturally by your own body. These are sometimes referred to as bio or body identical. The dosage and form will vary according to your specific needs and preferences.  In each case, the doctor will prescribe MHT based on the North American Menopause Society Guidelines.  For a complete picture of available treatments in Canada, The Canadian Menopause Society has a pocket guide that describes all available options.

Can hormone therapy be prescribed if I still have periods?

Yes! Some women struggle with perimenopause for many years before their periods stop. MHT can be useful in such situations to help with symptom relief as they transition into menopause.

How long will it take for the hormone therapy to start working?

This will depend on the individual. Some women will start to feel better almost immediately however for most it can take 6-8 weeks before you start to feel an improvement. Therefore, it is important to not be discouraged and stop treatments prematurely. It might take a couple of appointments and dose adjustments to find the most appropriate treatment.

What is the cost of the services?

The initial consultation fee is 395$. This gives you email access to Dr. Ghazigian in case of questions or concerns. If a specific concern is deemed to require an appointment, you will be notified and another appointment will be scheduled.

Follow up appointments are 249$.
